It is often said that education is the new currency and the passport out of poverty. Realising that most people live in poverty in Uganda, it is the mission of the Queen Mother Best Foundation (QMBF) to educate the people of Tooro so that they are able to come out of poverty. In addition to this, after noticing how some cultural beliefs and practices undermine women and harm girls, the QMBF focuses on empowering girls and women so that they are able to overcome these cultural barriers and heal from these bad practices.

Best Vocational School, Fort Portal

Queen Mother Best Primary & Nursery School

This is a day and boarding vocation school in Fort Portal. Best Vocational School is a place of practical wisdom. Our motto is “With Skills and TRUST”. When you join Best Vocational School, you will have the chance to study carpentry, joinery, catering, mechanics, child care, hotel management, early childhood development, hair and beauty, tourism, and computer science. At the end of your 1-2 year course, you will leave with your certificate fully equipped to make a difference in your community.

Queen Mother Best Primary & Nursery School

Our day and boarding school caters for children from the age of 3. We follow the education curriculum as directed by the Ministry of Education in Uganda. The subjects studied include: science, religious studies, maths, social studies, fine art, and the creative curriculum. Children also study languages such as English, Rutooro, and Swahili. At the end of primary education, children who leave with the PLE certificate have the opportunity to join our vocational school or other secondary schools in Uganda.
